My Morning Supplement Stack
The supplements I’ve zeroed in on over the years as my ideal morning stack. Supplement Stack series part 2/5
Supplement Stack series:
My Morning Supplement Stack
In part 1 of this series, I talked about the importance of having a solid baseline in your foundational pillars of nutrition, recovery, and activity before you start haphazardly adding in new things and how important it is to have goals in place for your supplementation.
In this part, I’ll take you through my morning routine and supplementation.
Upon waking, I urinate, step on my Withings body comp scale and then drink 500 ml (16 oz) of water. I get back in bed, do a few minutes of breath work, check for any urgent messages, then get up and get going for the day.
Now that I’m up and about, I make my morning shake with 500 ml (16 oz) of water, Athletic Greens, Collagen powder, and electrolyte powder:
Athletic Greens AG1
I’ve been using Athletic Greens for many years as it is the simplest way for me to cover all my bases of important vitamins, minerals, and probiotics. I get B6, Folate and B12 for cardiovascular health, Vitamin C and Zinc for immunity and some magnesium and potassium (which I also get some other supplements to ensure I’m getting enough in). Importantly, it has prebiotics and probiotics to help my gut microbiome.
Designs for Sport Collagen Complete
Not all collagen powders are created equal. Designs For Sport’s product has Collagen Peptides from Fortigel®, which has good data showing its benefit in promoting the growth of cartilage tissue. It also contains Verisol® and Fortibone®, which help with skin and bone. I also take this about an hour before my strength workouts. Qualitatively, I notice a material decrease in joint aches when using this product consistently. I’ve seen good results with Momentous Collagen too.
Adapted Nutrition Keto K1000 Electrolyte Powder
I mostly take this to increase the amount of potassium I’m consuming, which has positively impacted my blood pressure. Keto K1000 is one of the few products that has 1,000 mg of potassium. I also try to get plenty of magnesium in during the day, and it has a decent amount.
I’ll take you through my lunchtime supplement stack in my next post.
